case study: PHOTOGRAPHY - family photoshoot
Christine contacted IDEAlee to get a quote for an on location family photography shoot. She was gathering her extended family together and wanted to capture the day, and to then get us to print and frame some of the images as gifts.
WHY US?
The Client selected us for a number of key reasons:
-
we are local to her and were happy to shoot on location at her kids’ favourite park;
-
we were available for the afternoon session that she requested and were flexible when she asked to rearrange;
-
she was impressed with our photographic portfolio, liked our style and as Lee has a small child he is good at putting kids at ease;
-
she felt our prices were reasonable and we built a rapport quickly.
WHAT DID WE DO & HOW?
The Client booked with us and we liaised with her to ensure we knew exactly what she wanted to achieve, obtained names of those coming and through discussion established the family tree and understood the family dynamic. It was agreed that the shoot would be more reportage/informal journalistic style in the main, with a few set family shots. A week before the shoot we received the shot list we had requested and Christine had got a bit carried away with double the formal shots listed than had initially been agreed and a few more family members were coming along too. It didn’t throw us off our stride and as we are keen to always meet our Client’s requirements we agreed to try to achieve the full list in the limited timeframe we had. It took careful planning and we also scouted the location in advance for a number of suitable spots to photograph the family, that would be of interest to the children too.
Using professional grade camera equipment, comprising of 2 main cameras with a variety of different lens’ to ensure time consuming lens changes weren’t needed to maximise the limited time we had.
I took an assistant to ensure we could move through the family shots in a logical fashion and to assist me to organise the excited 15 strong group. The kids were all well behaved (with some treats as bribery), as were the grown ups, thankfully the weather cheered up as it had been raining when we arrived at the shoot and as a result we achieved some superb photos for the family to cherish.
OUTCOME & FEEDBACK
The images were processed and delivered by download to the Client and she also ordered a number of framed prints. She was thrilled and kindly left us this review on facebook:-
“From the moment we contacted Lee we knew we had chosen someone who was passionate about what they do and was focused on getting us exactly what we wanted from our photos. Right from the start the communication was excellent, the quotation was clear and precise and gave us plenty of options to choose from depending on our budget. I loved the fact that Lee spent time with us finding out exactly what we wanted from the shoot / the style of photography etc and then went away and put a plan together for the day so the whole day ran really smoothly without anyone having to stand around for long. On the day Lee was already on site and made everyone feel welcome and at ease - he had the children smiling within moments and captured some truly amazing photos for us to treasure. Even after the shoot the customer service was second to none. The proofs were ready extremely quickly and the prices for prints are very reasonable and printed extremely quickly. Lee went as far as to develop a collage for my sister of some of her photos as a gift for her father in law and also helped by sourcing the frame, mounting the print and presenting it to her within just a few days of the request being made.
OUTSTANDING SERVICE - Will definitely be using again”
